Some Thoughts From Proverbs 17

Proverbs 17:3

³ The crucible is for silver, and the furnace is for gold,
    and the Lord tests hearts.

The two illustrations of testing informs the reader of the tests that the Lord makes of hearts.

A. They are intense.

B. They are purifying.

C They are necessary.

D. They increase value.

E. They effect change.

D. They beautify.

G. They require time.

The effects may in some ways overlap and they may be more, but the list above when applied to the sanctifying process gives information of the experiences of a believer.

Because a believer is alive to feeling, it can be added that there it both joy and pain in sanctification. But it is certain God never deceives us about the pain nor denies us the joy.
