Thoughts From Proverbs 27

Proverbs 27:20
20 Sheol and Abaddon are never satisfied,
and never satisfied are the eyes of man.
There is always room for another grave and hell will never be crowded. So there is always someone on whom the Ponzi scheme works and who will fall for the current scam. Why? Because the carnal heart is greedy. That is never satisfied.

This poor old widow or widower fell for this scam because they were so needy. No! They were so greedy. And their greed made them foolish!

27:7
One who is full loathes honey,
but to one who is hungry everything bitter is sweet.
Verse 7 informs us of a very simple truth.  In general mankind is motivated by need. Honey can be undesirable if there is no need.  A family pet can be edible if hungry enough.

Greed as it is described in verse 20 is a continued hunger. That which would otherwise be undesirable is made sweet by the unsatisfied eye.

Remember “there ain’t no free lunch." And "if it sounds too good to be true it isn’t.” Is that pessimistic? No! It is classic wisdom.
