Thoughts From Proverbs 30

Proverb 30:5

⁵ Every word of God proves true;
    he is a shield to those who take refuge in it

This is the faith of Christians. From this we learn of the Creator. All knowledge of God begins with the belief that He is the creator of all things, material and spiritual.  From this we learn that God is Triune. There is only one true God. This is the Triune God revealed in the word of truth. All other gods are idols and have no being. It is idolatry and death to worship any god, material or spiritual except the one true and Triune God.

From this we learn that the Mediator Son (cf verse 4) reveals the Triune God in all His fullness for the fullness of the Godhead bodily dwells in the Son.

From this we learn that salvation is by Grace through faith alone. Works of righteousness can never justify the sinner. And here we learn the holy Sovereign, and gracious will of God has from all eternity been set upon His elect. Note the word “proves" in the text. This is like a valuable metal is proved by an assayer. The ignorant who attempt to assay the metal cannot prove it.  That does not reflect on the value of metal.  It retains its value.  This failure only reveals the inept ability of the one who attempts the test.
